ABRAHAM
Without weakening in his faith
He faced the facts,
Without knees giving way
He faced the facts,
Without yielding to despair
He faced the facts.
Against all hope, Abraham in hope believed.
He faced the facts
And, Oh boy! Oh boy! What facts!
Bad news – man, mega plus,
No hope - man, no way,
Dreams and plans – man, down the tube.
Fact No 1:
He was as good as dead, as good as, but not quite, there was a glimmer of hope,
He was only as good as dead.
Fact No 2:
Was the ‘crunch’ one – Sarah’s womb it was dead,
Which put the tin lid on that final glimmer of hope.
The last straw, so to speak, that ‘broke the camel’s back’ of that dream and vision.
Man could not accomplish this vision.
Still Abraham – without weakening in his faith faced the grim facts, the harsh
reality of unyielding, unchanging facts.
But the cold water of harsh reality could not dim Abraham’s faith.
Abraham without weakening in his faith grew stronger in faith, giving glory to God.
‘But God’ – was part of his equation,
‘But God’ – not the facts,
‘But God’ – not man’s inability,
But - God’s ability.
Abraham was fully persuaded that what He had promised, He was able to perform.
Not wavering in unbelief, like a reed in the wind,
Not hesitating in indecision, but fully persuaded.
He was not double minded, but of one opinion, one mind,
Fully persuaded that what God had promised
He was able to perform.
