BURNING BUSH
The burning bush was “any old bush” in a very dry desert;
We may feel like a dry bush in a very dry desert,
All dried up – “an any old bush.”
This is to make us rely not on ourselves but on God who raises the dead.
Who makes dry bushes – burn.
Burn and not fizzle out,
Burn and not go out in a puff of smoke!
Burn with the purpose of God.
We are not to rely on ourselves, but on God
Who raises the dead
Who speaks to things that are not as though they were.
The dry bush in the desert burned,
“So!“ You may say.
Dry bushes in deserts burn,
Many dry bushes burn in the desert
Any old bush can burn.
But
This dry bush burned and burned
It did not fizzle out
Or go up in a puff of smoke.
It burned for a purpose – God’s purpose.
It burned until Moses’ attention was caught.
You may feel like a dry bush – brittle and crackly - dead inside.
But God speaks to the dead
He spoke to Lazarus.
He rose from the dead
He spoke to the the withered arm – it was made whole!
He spoke to the blind eyes – and they could see.
Jesus is the resurrection and the life
So He speaks life to you – resurrection life.
He speaks to things that are not.
He is able to raise us up
The fire of God never goes out
The river of life never runs dry
Jesus is the one who baptizes us with the Holy Spirit and with fire!
He immerses us into the presence of God.
He plunges us into the presence of God.
So that we may radiate the presence of Jesus.
