God cares for me
Have you noticed that God takes care of even the most insignificant detail? I usually have a vase of flowers on the end of the mantelpiece, normally 99p worth of spray carnations from Tesco’s. Being unemployed I thought this was a needless expense so stopped buying them. We do not have what are generally called cut flowers in our garden but there, in my unused vegetable patch, have appeared self-seeded nasturtiums. These are flowering away merrily and are available to me week after week. The more I pick the more I get.
God sees my needs; He has known me since before I was born. Why should He not know what pleases me? I expect my husband to know that I love flowers why should I expect any less of God? It is the same with everything, I do not have to spend ages cataloguing my problems to Him in prayer – I am just boring Him, whinging or complaining. What He wants to hear is my acknowledgement of His love for me and my acceptance of it. All I need to do is allow Him into my life – all day, everyday. Not just on Sundays or in times of crisis but all the time. God made the world and there is nothing in it that is not His or His business.
Why do I feel that I have to tell Him what He should do? He has already done it, He gave His son for my redemption and all I have to do is receive. His one sacrifice is sufficient to heal all the illness and forgive all the sins of the world for all time, past, present and future. In the Old Testament God was angry with people such as those in Sodom and Gomorrah despite Abraham’s best efforts they were destroyed, but since the New Testament Jesus acts as our intermediary. We do not have to worry about appeasing God’s wrath, all we have to do is claim His love and healing for our lives and be thankful.
